Bearsville Theater Presents:Rock 'n Roll: The Real Roots
R & R started in the late ’40s and early ‘50s as a fusion of the music genre popular for the era; gospel, folk, blues, country & western, and jazz, but the classic sound of early R&R was heard as far back as the ‘20s and 30s in the Country & Western, Jazz and Blues genres respectively. The swing music of the ‘30s, including the Texas region Western Swing was greatly influenced by the blues and through the “musical melting pot” that had an effect on the emerging rockabilly and R&R movement. This, we celebrate.
