A ROOTS/BLUES/SOUL EXPLOSION!
The Organiks are Bruce Katz (John Hammond, Ronnie Earl, Little Milton) on Hammond B-3 organ, Randy Ciarlante (The Band, Jim Weider) on drums and vocals, Chris Vitarello (Jimmy McGriff, Dennis Gruenling) on guitar and vocals and Jay Collins (Allman Brothers, Levon Helm) on Sax and vocals. This band is a new collaboration between these established and exciting musicians, who have played with many of the legends of blues and rock music and who are bandleaders in their own right.
Bruce Katz, a Hammond Artist Endorsee, is a legendary keyboardist who has played and recorded with Duke Robillard, Jimmy Witherspoon, John Hammond, Levon Helm, Ronnie Earl, Little Milton, and many others in his career. He also has five CDs out as the leader of the Bruce Katz Band. Bruce moved to the Hudson Valley a little over a year ago. John Hammond said, "This man is as good as it gets. One of the greatest keyboardists I've ever heard."
Randy Ciarlante, a longtime resident of Olive, has played and recorded with dozens of top name artists, including a long stint in The Band and as a member of the Jim Weider Band.
Chris Vitarello is a young and brilliant guitarist/vocalist who has already played with Hammond master Jimmy McGriff, among others.
Jay Collins mixes up blues, Afro-Cuban rhythms and funky New Orleans style into a modern patchwork of root-bound sound. Jay is known for his work with Gregg Allman and Friends, Allman Brothers Band, Levon Helm, and James Hunter.
The Organiks play music that is a fresh and exciting take on American Blues, Roots, and Countrified Soul. The band is definitely a Hammond B-3 group, but one that takes that sound to new places.
