Dead On Live '71-'72

Dead On Live @Bearsville Theater Bearsville Theater Presents:

Dead On Live '71-'72
Saturday, April 13, 2013
8pm door / 9pm show
$25 general admission

There are many great bands paying tribute to the music of the Dead, like DSO or even Further for that matter.  But DOL perhaps stands alone in recreating the classic sounds of the classic records live in concert.

Listen as you read on to Dead On Live 71 - 72 excerpts  on YouTube.

Based on their unique approach of recreating, literally note for note all instruments including the lush vocal harmonies as heard on the classic recordings of the 70’s, DOL has quickly become recognized nationally as one of the top acts to pay tribute to the music of the American treasure known as the Grateful Dead.

Dead On Live’s debut performance in the greater Woodstock area will feature the music from the beloved “live” era of 71-72.  This show will feature favorites from “Skull and Roses”, Jerry’s 1st solo effort “Garcia”, the classic and revered “Europe 72” and more from Bob Weir’s 1st solo effort “Ace”. Songs such as “Wharf Rat”, “The Wheel”, “China Cat Sunflower/I Know You Rider” (In it’s entirety!), “Mexicali Blues” and “One More Saturday Night” will be performed as they were recorded, all instruments and vocals.

Multi-instrumentalist, touring and recording veteran, Marc Muller (Shania Twain, Tommy Shaw, Bruce Springsteen) has assembled a cast of world class musicians featuring Zen Trickster and Bob Weir “Ace” Tom Circosta, drummer Joe Chirco (Donna Jean, David Nelson), John Pittas, Paul Avrutin tackling the rootless syncopation of Phil’s bass, and perhaps one of the best Pigpen inspired vocalists/harpists on the scene today, Sandy Mack.  Special guests are sure to be stopping by to join in the fun, as there’s always lots of good old, Dead-inspired jamming to be had in every show. With much “deadication” these musicians come together to present their truly unique, note-for-note offering, performing the music of the Dead, absolutely “Dead On – live”!

The Band is:
Marc Muller – guitar, pedal steel and vocal
Tom Circosta – guitar, vocal
Paul Avrutin – bass, vocal
Sandy Mack – harmonica, vocal
John Pittas – piano, organ
Erica Muller – vocal
Cindy Muller – the boss of Marc

What others are saying:
I really enjoyed your Boston show!! If Jerry were still alive he would be honored for the way you paid tribute to the Dead tonight. The talent of the different musicians was amazing and so versatile. I felt you did such a great job that if I closed my eyes I would have thought the Dead was on stage. Thank you for a great evening and please come back to Boston!!  - Peace, Jim

Saw you and your crew put on a tremendous Dead On show this past weekend.  Just wanted to say hello, you guys are incredible, and THANK YOU.  Your music was better than any dead-tribute I have ever seen (by far).  You could feel such a great vibe in that room, everyone really dug it.  Please, please, please come back and dazzle us with '72 (one of my faves!)!!  Peace and love,  -Jenna Almquist

I saw you and Dead On this past Saturday night at Berkeley.  I took my 24 year old daughter and one of her friends to celebrate my daughter's birthday on October 27th.  Anyway, just want to thank you and the other musicians so much for the concert.  You guys were amazing and I hope you will be coming back to perform the next set you are planning.  Fade Away was an excellent choice for the encore -really, cannot thank you enough as there is not much to smile about for me right now and you gave me some hope there are still like-minded people out there.  BTW, my daughter and her friend loved the show as well - thank you again?

I am very thankful for the opportunity to enjoy the grand performance last night! Thank you for your efforts and those of all the band members.
The music speaks for itself. Your devotion to recreate it as it was recorded was a tribute and an honor to share.  What luck that I was there.  Best Regards,  another old soul, on the path

Saw you guys perform last night. My husband and I had the best time
listening to you play. I have been following the Dead for close to
forty years and my husband who is new to  the Dead scene purchased the
tickets as a gift to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. He never
really enjoyed going to shows with me until last night. He  was totally
into the whole entire performance. We came to see you from Long Island and it was well worth the drive.  Thank you again for a wonderful evening! - Janet Durso

We had a great time, and the music was high quality and enjoyable.
It was obvious your band spent a lot of time and hard work recreating that music, and fans like me appreciate it. Good luck with future shows, I plan to catch as many as I can.- Steve O'Dowd

I had an amazing time at your show last night.  Excellent, excellent, excellent. You guys sounded perfect.  Thanks again for giving me the dead-heads up that you were doing it.  Been studying for my boards for the past 6 months,  hopefully once I pick things up again we can have time to touch base, if you not out touring.  I just saw the Fab Faux a few weeks ago,  and your show was very reminiscent of that concept.  The people around me kept saying you sounded so good, that it was better than the Dead themselves. Take care - Ted

I want to confirm and congratulate you on a great show celebrating the Dead’s American Beauty and Workingman’s Dead 40th Anniversary.  I didn’t know what to expect…but was rewarded with a great experience.  This is high praise from a person who saw the Dead about 35 times in the 70’s and 80’s.
