Few artists have changed the face of music like Joey Ramone. With him every step of the way was his younger brother, Mickey Leigh-- adding his invaluable layer of vocal harmony on recordings, playing back-up guitar, touring, sound engineering, co-writing songs with Joey, and lugging equipment.

The world knows Joey Ramone as the lead singer for the seminal punk rock group, The Ramones. With Joey’s unique style and voice, and with his 6’ 5” presence, he was not your average front man. His groundbreaking vocal style created a new aesthetic that was taken on years later by legions of singers throughout the punk genre and beyond. Among the many outspoken musicians who credit Joey and The Ramones as their main source of inspiration are Green Day’s Billy Jo Armstrong
, U-2’s Bono, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, (who inducted the Ramones into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002) Joan Jett, Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Anthony Kiedis, and the Clash.

Mickey is presently on his world tour for book signings, and it is an unbelievable stroke of luck to have him tell his story right here in Woodstock while he is taking a much needed break at his summer home in Shokan. We now have the rare opportunity to meet the Joey Ramone that only those closest to him knew, and no one was closer than his one and only sibling, Mickey Leigh. We will hear in Mickey’s own voice the uncensored inside story of his famous brother who evolved into a countercultural icon, and one of the most recognizable faces in rock history.

Mickey’s book (co-written with veteran music journalist Legs McNeil) “I Slept With Joey Ramone-A Family Memoir” will take you through Joey’s highly personal emotional and mental turmoil, their family tragedies, and the 22-year world touring career (2,263 live shows) of the Ramone’s. “To this kid brother, Joey was a towering hero,” Mickey says, “not just because he was Joey Ramone but because he was so much more. He was the ultimate underdog who soared to a place far beyond overachievement.”

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> Mickey Leigh has headlined shows regularly at CBGB, as well as other famed NYC clubs like Max's Kansas City, Mudd Club, Hurrah, Tramps, and The Bells of Hell. His band has been on the road, with The Clash, The B52s, The Stranglers, The Buzzcocks, The Plasmatics, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, and countless other legendary musicians.

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> Since his brother Joey’s death in 2001, Mickey has produced The Joey Ramone Birthday Bash every May 19th, an annual non-profit NYC event celebrating his brother’s life and work. He is also a founder/chairman of The Joey Ramone Foundation for Lymphoma Research.

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> We want to welcome you to join us for an intimate, casual, and uplifting evening at the Bearsville Theater Lounge (bar will be open) for loud & fast Ramones music, a lively book reading, discussion, and book signing! Then, we rock out to Mickey’s rock/punk band STOP, hailed by Robert Christgau of the Village Voice as a breakthrough band “bridging the musical gap between The Who and The Sex Pistols.”

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> Get your tickets early. This will be a sold out event!
