TERRI LYNE CARRINGTON will be bringing her quintet to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY, on Sunday, August 12th, 2012, to honor and celebrate the 70th birthday of JACK DEJOHNETTE, legendary drummer, bandleader, and 2012 NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) Jazz Master recipient.
In January of 2012 JACK DEJOHNETTE was honored as a recipient of a 2012 NEA Jazz Master Award for his lifetime achievement. He is recognized for his extraordinary contribution to advancing the jazz art form and for serving as a mentor for a new generation of young aspiring jazz musicians. Terri Lyne Carrington will be the featured artist at this event!
TERRI LYNE CARRINGTON is a 2012 Grammy-Award winning jazz drummer, bandleader, composer, record producer, entrepreneur, and renowned teacher at Berklee College of Music in Boston. She is a former student of Jack DeJohnette’s, and has played with Herbie Hancock, Esperanza Spalding, and many other jazz legends. In addition to her her many accomplishments, her dedication and love for the music is apparent when you hear her.
Prior to the concert from 6 - 7:30pm, in the Bearsville Theater lounge, there will be a Benefit Gourmet Dinner created by Master Chefs for the Queens Galley. The dinner will also provide an opportunity for participants to meet some of the artists who will be playing on the concert stage. Live music will be provided by TERI ROIGER on vocals, JOHN MENEGON on bass, and MIKE DEMICCO on guitar.
The Queens Galley is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization (local branch is in Kingston, NY) that provides awareness, education, relief and prevention of food insecurity in America. The Queens Galley supports, creates and implements programs dedicated to the affordable nutritional education of children, families and seniors.
The event is being produced by JAZZSTOCK, an organization created by John Menegon and Teri Roiger in the summer of 2011, and is an ongoing jazz concert series presenting a diverse group of jazz artists who have an individual voice and a desire to share their talents and ideas with us in the Hudson Valley.
