THE JASON FOSTER PROJECT MISSION:

Countless musicians battle depression and substance abuse on a daily basis. The sole purpose of The Jason Foster Project is to raise awareness of the dangers of addiction, and the importance of seeking treatment for depression and drug rehabilitation so that musicians can continue to be creative without the use of drugs.

RECENT NEWS:

In November 2009, The Jason Foster Project (JFP) was formed. The project will host The Jason Foster Tribute Concert on September 19, 2010 at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY. The show will feature several of the bands Jason worked with throughout his musical career. Money raised at the Jason Foster Tribute Concert will be donated to The Road Recovery Foundation in Jason’s name. More details regarding the Jason Foster Tribute Concert will be released shortly in an official announcement from the JFP.

ABOUT THE ROAD RECOVERY FOUNDATION:

The Road Recovery Foundation is a registered New York-based not-for-profit 501(C)(3) organization, that was established in 1998. The foundation is dedicated to helping young people battle addiction and other adversities by harnessing the influence of entertainment industry professionals who have confronted similar crises and share their experience and knowledge.

With support from the mental health field, Road Recovery provides hands-on mentor-ship training, educational/performance workshops, peer-support networking, and “all access” to real-life opportunities by collaborating with young people to create and present live-concert events. Road Recovery empowers young people of all backgrounds to face their struggles and helps them develop comprehensive life skills, guided by professionals and supported by a community of like-minded peers.

WHO WAS JASON FOSTER? Jason Foster of Kingston, NY, was an exceptionally talented guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and friend to many. Like many gifted artists, Jason battled with depression and substance addiction throughout his life. He used music as his escape, which enabled him to create amazing music throughout his lifetime. Jason demonstrated his ability to persevere despite his illness and addiction for many years, experiencing moments of personal triumph through his creativity. Unfortunately, Jason lost his battle with depression and substance abuse and on September 22, 2009. September 22 was also the day, 40 years prior, that the world was blessed with his presence.

On September 19, 2010 The Jason Foster Project will present The Jason Foster Tribute Concert at The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY. The concert is a fundraiser for The Road Recovery Organization and will feature bands that Jason performed with throughout his career. The show will include such well known local acts as Perfect Thyroid, Three and long awaited reunions of Peacebomb, Lunchmeat, Talon, Hysteria and Evidence.
