Jay Collins and the Kings County Band celebrate the release of their brand new CD, "Blues, Rivers, and Other People"
at the Bearsville Theater on Friday, April 6th.
One of the most sought-after musicians in the jazz, rock, and blues arenas, Jay is best known for his saxophone, flute and horn arrangement work for artists including Gregg Allman, Allman Brothers Band, Levon Helm (of The Band), Donald Fagen (of Steely Dan), James Hunter (England), Ray LaMontagne, and jazz greats such as Andrew Hill, Jacky Terrasson, and (the late) bassist LeRoy Vinnegar. In recent years, Mr Collins has also become recognized for his gritty singing and his singular song-writing.
“Collins’ soulful croak definitely deserves to be heard”- Time Out, NYC
Jay is a Hudson Valley favorite, performing regularly with Levon Helm at his famous Ramble sessions right here in Woodstock, and playing with his own group, the Kings County Band, everywhere from NYC to Albany. In addition, Jay is a long-time touring member and current musical director of the Gregg Allman Band, and will again be playing saxophone this coming summer with the Dukes of September, a collective group featuring Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs, and Michael McDonald.
Come join us Friday, April 6th to hear new, original songs reminiscent of all the great performers that Jay Collins has played with, and some choice cover songs delivered only the way Jay and the Kings County Band can deliver them--with fire, soul, chops, and conviction!
Copies of their new CD "Blues, Rivers, and Other People" will be available at the show.
