Bearsville Theater Presents:In honor of what would have been John Lennon's 72nd birthday, singer songwriter Jeff Slate brings his Birds of Paradox to the Bearsville Theater. The band includes Gary Van Scyoc and Adam Ippolito of Lennon's Plastic Ono Elephant's Memory Band, along with drummer Alex Alexander (Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nile) and guitarist Jimmy Mack (Gene Cornish, Tommy James).
To commemorate this summer's 40th Anniversary of John Lennon's final live concert appearance, at Madison Square Garden (with Gary and Adam), Birds of Paradox will combine music from their new album along with selections from Lennon's Garden show.
Birds of Paradox, is taken from the song written by John Lennon about May Pang, “Surprise, Surprise; Sweet Birds of Paradox”, owing to the fact that Pang introduced the members of Jeff Slate’s band, leading to their first performance together at her 60th birthday party in 2009.
Carlo Cantamesa of the Cast of Beatlemania will perform an acoustic set entitled "John Lennon: In My Life" to open the evening.
Local author Martha Frankel will do an original reading in remembrance of Lennon.
