Kasim Sulton (Todd Rundgren's Utopia and bass player/musical director for Meat Loaf) performs with special guest, guitar player extraordinaire, Jesse Gress (Todd Rundgren & Tony Levin Band) and long time band mate, Doug Kennedy at the Bearsville Theater on Saturday, May 17th. In addition to the concert, there will be a showing of the new Meat Loaf documentary movie titled, “In Search Of Paradise”, produced and directed by Bruce David Klein. “In Search of Paradise” premiered in New York City in March of 2008. The film follows Meat Loaf through his 2006 Canadian tour and his quest to re-invent Paradise by the Dashboard Lights for his world tour. It contains concert footage and band interviews.

In addition to living and getting married in Woodstock, Meat Loaf’s  1977 history-breaking release “Bat out of hell” was produced here by Todd Rundgren.

What do Todd Rundgren, Meat Loaf, Celine Dion, Mick Jagger, Joan Jett, Bon Jovi and Hall & Oates have in common? Singer/Songwriter Kasim Sulton has worked with all of them!

Brooklyn-born Sulton began his career playing piano for David Bowie's publicist Cherry Vanilla, before joining Todd Rundgren's prog-rock group Utopia in 1976. Kasim played bass and sang both background and lead vocals in the band for 10 years. During that time they released 6 studio albums as well as played tours all over the US, Japan and Europe. Kasim also wrote their only Top Thirty hit, “Set Me Free”.

Kasim has been a part of Meat Loaf’s band since 1993 and in 1998 became his Musical Director. Kasim also has the distinction of being the only musician apart from Meat Loaf who performs on each track of all three Bat Out Of Hell albums. Recently Kasim has been making his name as a producer having produced the Meat Loaf album StoryTellers in 1999, Rick Reynolds' album Unstoppable in 2005 plus his own solo albums.

Kasim released his “Quid Pro Quo,” in 2002 to acclaim by both critics and fans and in 2003 it won the Kweevak.com Viewers’ Choice Award. In March’07 he released a 36 track double CD called “All Sides” which included new songs, live tracks and favorites from his other solo albums.

Critics worldwide have praised Kasim’s talents. Mike O'Cull from ChicagoGigs.com, says: "Kasim is a songwriter of uncommon gifts. I cannot recommend this performer highly enough to anyone who is a fan of pop music or singer/songwriters in general. He was simply one of the best I've ever seen."
