From Woodstock NY comes the beautiful, free spirited soulful sound of Simi Stone (formerly of The Duke & The King). A debut album of thirteen highly personal songs, each with an incredibly catchy, pop hook.

After building up a strong following in the New York area with her magnetic live shows in many of the city’s leading clubs and theatres, Simi then recorded the self-titled album with co-writer and producer David Baron.

Simi is no stranger to the spotlight having already toured the world as a founding member of The Duke & The King between 2007-2009 (including many leading festivals and an appearance on BBC TV’s Later…with Jools Holland).

“I’ve loved Simi from the first time seeing her live and being completely awestruck. Whatever she is doing she is always riveting in a sexy, soulful, badass way. You could never pigeon hole or compare her. But if really pressed I’d say she is a mixture of Iggy Pop and Nina Simone!!”

Stuart Matthewman (Sade/Sweetback)

More recently Simi has guested with the formidable and platinum selling songwriter Natalie Merchant (10,000 Maniacs) appearing in Merchant’s live band and opening for her at major concerts in America. The song ‘Don’t Come Back’ from the Simi Stone album was written by Natalie Merchant and given to Simi for her debut.

Simi describes her sound as ‘Mountain Motown with a sprinkle of pop’ and says…

“My inspiration comes from being cracked open. Being brought to my knees by the love and pain of life. It comes from the fire I have walked through, from the fire I have seen others walk, laugh, cry and sing through. I set out to make music for people - joyful, honest music”

Simi has formed a band of truly world class musicians including drummer Zachary Alford (David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen), bassist Sara Lee (David Bowie, Gang of Four, B52’s, Ryuichi Sakamoto), guitarists Gail Ann Dorsey (David Bowie, Tears For Fears) keyboardist David Baron (Michael Jackson, also the album’s co-writer and producer) and Danny Blume (Lounge Lizards).

Simi Stone will be on tour in 2015 and fans can expect more new music throughout the year.
