Terry Adams, NRBQ’s irrepressible founder, driving force, and “untamed genius of the keyboards,” embarks on a spring tour with his new band, The Terry Adams Rock & Roll Quartet, in March. In addition to Adams on keyboards, the Quartet’s members are: one of Chicago’s finest musicians, Scott Ligon, on guitar; Pete Donnelly on bass (The Figgs, Graham Parker); and Austin’s Conrad Choucroun on drums (Banana Blender Surprise, Damnations).

The Terry Adams Rock & Roll Quartet’s repertoire includes numerous Adams-penned NRBQ classics, like “That’s Neat, That’s Nice,” and “Me And the Boys,” as well as new songs from Adams’ most recent solo album, last year’s Rhythm Spell; his 2006 recording with original NRBQ guitarist Steve Ferguson, Louisville Sluggers; and his 1995 solo album Terrible. As one would expect from a masterful bandleader who called the tunes on every NRBQ performance for decades – no set ever alike – there are enough curveballs from the mind of Adams to keep any discerning music lover happy. Q fans attending November’s shows were delighted to realize that, once again, no two Terry Adams performances are the same, and the players in his new band are worthy cohorts who put their own distinct personality on the music.
